What do you think of Mint stats? Has anyone use it?

This guy is making money $30 per site! :O I have free stats in CPanel such as awstats and webalizer. I don't think I'll buy this stats but what for? By the way, the stats looks nice.

Mint stats are presented beautifully, reliable and very detailed. $30, perhaps a bit steep, but many consider it worth it. I've never used it, mind, this is going by what others say.

I got it the first release day, and I love it! :) Nice and simple, and the support forum is great. It's worth $30!

I feel bummed out by the fact that it costs $30, I thought it was intended to be free? Someone told me that, but I think that if anyone has $30 extra it would be worth it.

I've heard mint is -ok-. Where I work we use indextools, which is probably one of the best analytics tools out there (but it costs a lot).

I hear a lot of talk about Urchin. It's meant to be the de facto stats package. I believe Google based their stats service on Urchin.

try slimstat (http://wettone.com/code/slimstat) (free). it is based on shaun inman's shortstat (http://www.shauninman.com/plete/), who is also the author of mint.

My hosting (Media Temple) comes with Urchin. It's good stuff, it tracks a whole lot more than Shortstat and Mint and co. I wouldn't say it's better than them, but feature-wise, it's the most expansive I've used.

I think you will find that google actually purchased urchin and changed the name.

Why do you want to buy 3rd party stats even though you have free stats in cpanel if you have cpanel. :S

Well, it'd depend on whether or not you're satisfied with the statistics you're currently getting. In my experience most cPanel/similar back-end tools tend to either give too much or too little information and sometimes there's no access to customising it (i.e. only getting or seeing the statistics you'd like to, or adding more variables to track).

From what I've read of Mint so far and its "Peppers" (plugins/extensions), on that front alone I'd be interested in finding out more. If you're happy with the statistics you're able to get with your current stat. package though, then you probably won't need to consider an alternative.

I don't think there's a thing as "the best" stat. tracker, it's just a case of what works for you/your client the best. I'm a big believer in future-proofing though and thus exploring the extent of a web-application's ability to evolve according to your needs as they change or expand; usually if something doesn't offer me that, I look for alternatives when and where possible.
