Hi all,

I installed Firefox 6.0.1 a couple of days ago, but when I came to use it today it wouldn't connect to any web site. I couldn't see why.

I reinstalled 6.0 and all was well again.

Anyone experienced this?

Nope.

Did you try any other browsers before re-installing?

Yepper Chris. I gave Chrome a go. It worked just fine, and this fact made me conclude that it must be something to do with FF.

If other folk are not having a problem, then great. I have a pretty standard (if there be such a thing) broadband set up but I couldn't track down the actual cause of the problem. And then FF 6.0 worked fine :$

"help" desk habit now :D

You'ld be amazed how many hosting clients ring and complain they can't get their emails or see their website.

Mind you they can't get any other websites either when you ask the question.

Have a look at Tools -> Options -> Advanced -> Network -> Settings and make sure "No proxy" is set.
When I installed 6.1 I took a look around at anything that had changed and noticed that "Use system proxy settings" was selected, I don't know of any reason that I would change that setting, so I have to assume that it may be a new default setting.

Hmmm - I find "Use system proxy settings" to be the setting on FF 6.0 :S

I will try and re-install 6.0.1 and check that setting anew.

Thanks Chris.

Set it to "No proxy" just to be sure.

I have now thanks Chris.

When I get a chance, I will try the install of 6.0.1 again and see if I can figure out the problem and post back. Maybe it will help someone.

Cheers for now.

Praise be to the Lord God for the ability to learn, the capability to analyze, and the time to help users on this forum.

Praise the lord indeed, despite the internet not being one of his "creations",
