I agree. Get rid of the tables. It will eat up a lot of time but you'd rather start from scratch rather than work on something that is outdated to begin with.

maybe start with designing on firefox, if it looks good on firefox, you will have less worries making it look "exactly" on IE.

so that it will override the more general style of the list e.g.
