2 things.

1. ID on the body tag for the homepage then you can move the inline to an external. easy enough.

2. I took all your different layouts into consideration before I wrote that snippet....

unless the device in question is exactly at the range switchpoint (ie 376px) you wont have a drama, that being said the next range should start at 377px so there is no confusion.

unfortunately widows and orphans can be tweaked for paged media but not for browsers. Chrome and (wait for it) IE, actually will respond to the selector, but nothing else. so it might just be worth...
