Not really, from what I've seen on some designs, they look pretty bad, but I think because they have neat CSS, they were approved, but not on the main site.

From what I do know, CSS Zen Garden comprises of 2 sections, the main one, whereby all the nice designs are shown, and the archive, which includes somewhat average designs.

My design wasn't even accepted, probably due to the bad CSS. =P

That's a pretty good idea too, we'll be contributing to open source communities in a way too.

Maybe. What's about 1 site per month receives the "Best site of the month" award? Also linkback to WLC whether they can be given awards or not?

just stating my own idea, opinon and further elaboration of this concept.
please, i hope no one gets offended if i trail off subject.

perhaps, a logical method of collaborating would be to assign a 'fake site' to be built by a small team of forum members.

Martinj (as team leader) would have the task of assigning a site to a group of volunteer teams. each team would comprise of x-amount of members, each with a strong suit, and responsibility to the project.

example:
Martinj would choose a basic layout. two column? three column? fixed width? fluid? colors? complimentary? contrasting? etc. etc.

Martinj would assign:
logo/header to Robert on team 1, and Ralph on team 2.
typography to Dan on team 1, and Susan on team 2.
graphics to James on team 1, and Cynthia on team 2.
and so on a so forth ...

Martinj and a panel of judges (including forum admins/moderators) would 'grade' the entries and the winners get:
fame?
glory?
special forum privlidges?

ofcourse, i'm certain a required stipulation of all entries would be valid xhtml and css.

again, these are just some ideas, concepts i wish to share with the members of my new favorite forum.
