Default Menu position moves from page to page

I need help making my menu stay in the exact same position from page to page.

I am using div's without positioning (no absolute or relative) and a table for the menu. (Though I wonder if I should be using divs with a <ul> for the menu.)

The two links that are 'live' for the sample are home and books. Even though I have the same div table and cell widths for both pages for the logo and menu sections of the page, when I add the (identical width 800px) image below the menu the positioning gets thrown off a bit.

Here are the sample pages (again the home and book links are the live ones).

What changes do I need to make to keep the menu consistent independent of what is beneath it?

I really appreciate your expertise and help!!

Cheers,
Josie

Hi Chris,
It moves slightly to the left and right. Were you able to notice from clicking on the links included? So if you click between books and home the entire menu and body shift to left and right.

Not for me, maybe I have my browser window with enough height so the scroll bars do not appear on the right thereby shifting all the content to the left by about 25 pixels.

ah interesting...I just pulled it up on my laptop and it does not move....but on my large screen mac desktop it bounces around vexingly....

With your expertise are you able to see anything in the way that I've set up my divs that would cause this?

thanks

Maybe but is your browser window on the desktop set at full screen height?

If it is a vertical scrollbar issue, adding this to your stylesheet should stop the shift you're getting:

Code:
html {
    overflow-y: scroll;
}
