Google's INDEXER not the crawler, reads ALL the content on ALL of the page.
All you are seeing, probably in a allinurl:, inurl: or site: search, is the way that the snippets are built in "special" searches.
Because there are no "keywords" in the query to use to build snippets they are assembled as always, from the page content where the URI can be found which obviously is your navigation.
If it concerns you so much, put a sentence in your meta description element that includes the URI and Google will use that as a snippet instead.
Or if you want to see what will appear in the SERPs normally, run a site: or inurl: searches and include some "keywords" seperated by spaces after the URI.
Messing about with the CSS is problematic and pointless as the snippets will STILL be built from the navigation because that's where the URI is found more frequently.
