Default IE6 ignores div bottom

Hi, I've created a site using only divs and now I noticed that IE6 does not display the layout correctly. The problem seems pretty simple, I have a div with the following style:
Code:
div.maincontent
{
	position: absolute;
	left: 250px; /*214px; */
	right: 0px;
	top: 127px;
	bottom: 50px;
	padding: 4px;
	overflow-y:auto;
	overflow-x:hidden;
	width: 642px;
	border: red 1px dashed;
}
This is the html file (which is useless here) :
Code:
<html>
	<head>
		<link rel="stylesheet" type="text/css" href="style.css">
	</head>
	<body>
		<div class="maincontent">
			Stuff
		</div>
	</body>
</html>
The problem is that IE6 ignores the bottom property. I cannot specify an exact height for the div because I want the div to resize properly, 50px from bottom and 127px from the top.

This is an image of how Firefox and IE6 display the div:

How can I fix this?

You only need to set the top or bottom, and then left or right.

Just now you are saying have it 127px's from the top but also 50px from the bottom.

You're right, but Firefox take both top and bottom at the same time (so do other browsers). How can I make IE6 do the same?

The main thing I want to achieve here it to have a div that resizes in such a way that there are always 127px from the top and 50px from the bottom.
