I liked Paint Shop Pro 7 but my CD-broke and now I'm stuck in deciding whether to go with Gimp or Photoshop. I would like to go with Gimp but it's interface is just so weird...

In the days before my enlightenment* I used JASC's PaintShopPro from version 4 up to 7 and still have 8 installed (I never use it anymore though, just installed it to see what had been changed/added) and was quite happy with it for a while. I also tried using Fireworks for a while but never quite got the hang of it.

*Since I started using Adobe Photoshop though, I've never looked back or anywhere else for that matter. It's handsdown definitely my favourite graphics editor to date.

I'm using a lot of time Photoshop. But i'm searching an alternate graphic design program because Photoshop is very expensive. I hate Gimp, because Gimp's interface is very bad.

WOW!

i'm the only one that voted for Fireworks!?
amazing.

weird. i never got the hang of photoshop.
i bought jasc psp 7 years ago, upgraded to 8, lost my hard drive during a crash, couldnt find my 8 install disk when i moved.
so, just fireworks, which i had the common sense to store more securely than psp.

People....come on...Flash!

I used to use photoshop (don't hurt me) then I was awoken to the sweet look of a true vector and such an easy system to draw with. To anyone who has not used it before, it can look slightly daunting...but with a couple weeks I was making Animated Characters and Intros.

One of my more recent rough sketches :

5 and half minutes it took me.....doubt it thats quite possible in photoshop.
I also use Flash for my layouts, I make each slice, export the image then place in Dreamweaver.

Just my two cents

Flash's drawing system is much more intuitive than illustrators, but it's product does not transfer well into programs such as illustrator. I haven't tried bringing flash's vector information in to indesign but I would expect it to be the same.

Producing a ".AI" from your flash file is simple. Remember to save each symbol or piece of artwork on separate layers and then publish using MX 2004. It gives you an option to export to AI within which each layer is editable artwork
